Mormonism

Hi there.
I just came across your website
answers.net.nz/Other/Morm.htm.
I'm a 'Mormon' and while I accept your disagreeing with my beliefs it would
be nice if your portrayal of my faith were more accurate.
Some of your statements are fine (if somewhat negatively slanted) and some
of them are a bit strange considering I've been a member of my church for
many years and have never come across some of these things that you say I
believe in. Other points are just plain wrong.
Obscure quotes does not equal the doctrines upon which my faith is founded
anymore than some obscure minister's words in your faith would speak for all
the members of your church.
Kind Regards,
Jared.

Hi Jared
Thanks for the comment. I agree with the some of what you write. Some Mormon
leaders have taught doctrines contrary to what some Mormons believe today. The truth can be a little hard to find sometimes. How can one know the truth? Why not
start with the bible?
The Apostle Paul in Galatians 1:8-9 warns against believing any angel who brings
another gospel. We are told not to accept but reject the message if it
disagrees with the historical Gospel. The Gospel is the standard by which we test
all other messages.
If I ask you, Is Mormonism a new teaching? And if the answer is 'yes' then the
Christian has every right to reject it. God has revealed in the bible everything
we need to know about salvation. But if the answer is 'no' then we say, 'We
don't need it'.
The test for truth is not whether one feels good about one's religion, how moral
or good it is, but one shouldn't accept anything as belonging to the
only true God that contradicts God's Word.
Kind Regards,
Mark
